I has been a high school educator with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (Waterloo, ON, Canada) for the past 16 years. In 2021, I received the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence, a recognition given to only 10 educators across Canada a year, largely due to the work I have done connecting students to some of the amazing innovators and entrepreneurs in the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
I am also very passionate about helping students develop their skills of self-efficacy and believe that there is nothing in education more important than helping my students realize their potential. If you'd like to know more about my views on education, please check out my TEDx talks (TEDxGuelphU: Preparing Our Students for the Future They Want and TEDx:ColumbiaLakeYouth: For Our Students - Character Counts!)
In addition to my work inside the classroom, I have published a fictional children’s book where the main character uses universal principles such as perseverance, self-reliance, and a positive attitude to overcome the obstacles in his life. In my free time I enjoy running (having completed several ultramarathons) as well as driving my kids all over Southern Ontario for their hockey games.
I offer a range of services including online one-on-one coaching or group coaching; workshops in a variety of education related fields including character development, STEM, and classroom management; and keynote presentations on innovation in education, character development, and the skills our kids need to be successful.
